Beannachtaí na Féile Pádraig oraibh!

March 17 is St. Patrick's Day. What do you know about the history of this celebration?

Here are two Irish songs (the second one sung by an American singer-songwriter):

Can you think of anything Irish worth sharing with others? I personally like Jonathan Swift's 'Gulliver's Travels' and Oscar Wilde's 'The Picture of Dorian Gray'.

  1. I like two Irish bands: The Corrs and U2. I like especially The Corrs because they are a Celtic folk rock band and you can understand the lyrics easily. I suppose everybody knows them but if you don't, you can watch this videos:

  3. I agree with Jaime in his choice. I love celtic music and the voices of The Corrs sounds dead great and melodic. Moreover, it's amazing how they can play the musical instruments too.
St. Patrick's Day reminds me of my school's days where every year a native nun told us stories about this saint. Really we didn't understand too much but we enjoyed listening to her so excited and cheerful. Although Mary Ward, the founder of this Religious Community, was from England but subsequently Irishwomen opened schools in Spain and for this reason they are called here "Las Irlandesas".

  4. The Joyce poem you have chosen this week is absolutely wonderful.

  5. Now that you mention, I was pleasantly surprised when I discovered Joyce´s poetry, mainly because I had a really hard time reading his 'Ulysses'(to an extent that I even started to hate his literature because of this book). His poetry uses simple language and personally I think the simpler the language the more powerful it can be.

Here is a link to a podcast about James Joyce´s poetry transformed through music:

  6. I would like to write The Irish Philosophy. It's really good! Maybe it's too long but it's worth.

There are only two things to worry about
either you are well or you are sick.

    If you are well,
then there is nothing to worry about.

    If you are sick,
there are two things to worry about
aither you will get well or you will die.

    If you get well,
there is nothing to worry about.

    If you die,
there are two things to worry about.
Either you will go to heaven or hell.

    If you go to heaven,
there is nothing to worry about.
But if you go to hell,
you'll be so damn busy shaking hands
    with your friends
You won't have time to WORRY!!!!!!
