'Girl with a Banjo'
Author: Mary Cassatt
March 8 is International Women’s Day. This year is the 100th Anniversary of this commemoration.
We are lucky to be living in a relatively civilized world, but there is still a long road ahead for women in other countries: http://www.un.org/en/events/women/iwd/2011/
Who comes to your mind when you think of International Women’s Day?

  1. I would point at a huge amount of women who have been really important, but I've chosen an Spanish one who fought in order to conquer the equality between men and women. She's Dolores Ibárruri "La Pasionaria", a woman who lived in the early 20th century and worked so hard to give the right of voting to women. As a lot of republican politicians, poets, writers and cultivated people, she had to go abroad because of the injustice and persecutions of the Spanish dictatorship. I think she has been one of the most important women in our History but she isn't well known enough.

  2. I am a big fan of Marie Curie. I think her life was exciting. She was a Polish physicist and chemist famous for her work about radioactivity. She was a pioneer in the field of radioactivity and the first person honored with two Nobel Prizes in physics and chemistry. What amazing woman! I believe Marie`s life had better studied in all high schools
