Flipped Education

I was surprised to learn about 'flipped schools' and how far technology can take us sometimes. I wonder how this project would work in our country, but I guess we still have to change too many other things before we start thinking of this kind of experiment.

What would you change about your school?

Old pirates, yes, they rob I

Sometimes we just like things we have been exposed to. This happens with accents too. If we have always listened to British speakers we will end up finding American accents difficult to understand, and vice versa. There are so many varieties of English. I have a soft spot for a Southern American accent, and also a Jamaican accent.

What about you? Do you like an accent in particular? Why?

Bridges

I can only find positive meanings for the word bridge. It is a structure that allows us to go from one side to another. According to the dictionary it is also something that makes it easier to make a change from one situation to another. In English, there is the expression ‘We’ll cross that bridge when we come to it’. We have beautiful bridges, like Ponte Vecchio, movable bridges all around, like in Chicago; The Bridges of Madison County, or a Bridge Over Troubled Water.

Can you think of any other words with positive connotations?

Dubbing

Fascinated by Tarantino's Django, fantastic story, great acting, witty humour, wonderful soundtrack (superb 'Ancora Qui' ), but dissapointed in how the African Americans in the film have been dubbed. For those of us who choose to watch films in the original but still like going to the cinema, a poor dubbing like this spoils the film. When will we be able to go to the cinema in this country and watch films in their original version?

Have you been to the cinema lately? Any suggestions?
