Interconnections

I love it when people connect things or things get connected by themselves and therefore complement each other. Here is a song that is deeply related to the book ‘The Grapes of Wrath’ by John Steinbeck.

Can you think of two or more things that complement each other in some way? It could be a song and a book, a book and a film, a song and a film, or anything you can think of!!

  1. Well, I think that the most of things are invented, then always there is something that inspire to other things.

One of the best-seller in the last years was "The Da Vinci Code" (I think everybody at least have read the book or seen the film).

This book is inspired in one painting: "The last supper" by Leonardo Da Vinci.

I guess everybody know the book and film's plot and how gets connected with the painting.

  2. One example could be the historical novel by Tracy Chevalier named "Girl with a Pearl Earring". I enjoyed a lot reading this book. It is about one of painter Johannes Vermeer's masterworks. The pearl earring catches the attention of the viewer.
Furthermore, the events that took place while Vermeer was painting it are shown in the movie of the same name. This film is a must!

  3. In fact, Springsteen didn´t read Steinbeck´s book. The song was inspired by the John´s Ford film based on the novel. This also the director of “The quiet man” and he has Irish roots, and that leads us to St. Patricks.
Springsteen also released one their greatest album playing with the Seeger Session Band. In this case Bruce transforms Peete Seeger songs connecting gospel, Mississippi brass, American folk, a bit of rock and roll, country and Irish music. That leads us to St. Patricks again. One of this songs is “Oklahoma home”. It´s about the Oklahoma Dust Bowl during the Great Depresion, as Tom Joad´s story. Families had to migrate starting a new life once and again. However, the spirit of this tune is not sad. It´s about facing the past but pointing to the future. Although not in so desperate situation, every person who has lived in several places will understand that “...my Oklahoma home is in the sky”.
    Everything is connected.
