An instant out of time

I found this unique website (1000 words to describe a picture):

Is there any of these photos you'd like to describe using some of the words from the list?

  1. Black Horse in Christie´s

This piece of work means nothings to me. ¿Pretentious and grandiloquent? Perhaps. On the other hand I could also describe it as superficial and banal. Maybe symbolic, but I don´t know the symbolism.
What I really found astounding is the photograph. It is not a horse juxtaposed to a person with a painting beside both, but a mythological centaur in a forest. Surreal and captivating, isn´t it?

  3. A member of a Beija-Flor samba school works on a float

At a first glance, it seemed to me an excessively ornate and quirky painting, but then I discovered that it were hand-made sculptures depicting maybe African slaves crowded together as if they wanted to free from their chains. They are decorating one of the samba schools' floats to celebrate the Carnival in Río de Janeiro, Brazil. It's something impressive, amazing and somewhat motley. Anyway, people who have built this float have shown effort, dedication and creativity.

  4. Madrid, Spain: A protester is confronted by two police officers after a demonstration against sweeping labour market reforms.

When I was a child a sentence was said several times when we were playing: “two against one worth a shit for everyone” (sorry if it’s rude). What would we have said in this case?. This photo is a flawless example of a burgeoning and dismissive attempt of governments to shut our mouths up. It’s deep remembrance of somber years and an unveiled demonstration of what they are able to do against the “enemy” who has no more weapons than his indignation. Of course this perception could be caused by my twisted, subjective and biased mind who is always missing so much a blurry image of a world where foxed citizens don’t have to pay their politicians disingenuous, gusty and disquieting behaviour.
