“To learn a language besides one’s native idiom, to penetrate its syntax, is to open for oneself a second window on the landscape of being.” Steiner, G. (1971)
Your blog make me enjoy two hours per week on Youtube, jumping from song to song. Last week I started with Van Morrison (When The Leaves Come Falling Down, Golden Autumn Day). Then I went to different versions of a song called Autumn Leaves: Miles Davis, Stan Getz, Nat King Cole and Keith Jarrett. This last one hypnotized me when I was young with the Koln Concert. It is one of the greatest albums I´ve ever listened to. So piano was then the question. Duke Ellington and Oscar Peterson were the following ones. I remembered that George Winston had beautiful themes related to seasons: Autumn again. Finally, I ended up in U2. What a wonderful song you´ve posted! It led me to some of their 80´s recordings (Bad, Unforgettable Fire, Van Diemen´s Land).
Cannonball Adderley and Miles Davis. Autumn Leaves. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PPHtQn1t1n4&feature=related

I like both songs you've chosen. I love jazz, so Miles Davis is always a good option. On the other hand, I'm a "Before Achtung Baby" U2 fan, so I love the second suggestion too. Here's some more Autumn:
Billy Holiday´s voice is always special and different. I think that what I send today could be a bit more difficult to appreciate. At least the first two or three times you listen to it. But it´s absolutely wonderful. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-fMy9HEFci8&feature=related http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PKcVPOHjeNY&feature=related
